After Orientation

Get ready for your first-day!
Once you have completed your Orientation, you’ll want to make sure you work through the appropriate Accepted Student Checklist to complete any outstanding items before the start of classes. Some important items include:
- Submit final transcripts from your high school, previous institution, and/or any AP, IB or dual enrollment credits.
- Submit your immunization records via the Student Health Portal. If you are missing any immunizations, you can contact Student Health to schedule an appointment when you arrive on campus.
- Complete the VCU required safety training modules. The Commonwealth of Virginia and VCU have several required trainings that students must complete before the start of their first semester.
If you have received a housing assignment for on-campus housing, review the VCU Residential Life and Housing website and be sure to look out for important emails with more details about signing up for a move-in time and what to bring with you.
If you are planning to live off-campus, refer to the Off-Campus Housing website for important resources such as searching for apartments, finding roommates, being a good neighbor, and learning about tenants rights and responsibilities.
VCU’s Alumni Relations team hosts several events throughout Virginia for new students and their families to get connected with other students from your hometown and with your local alumni chapter. These events take place in late July and early August - check back for Summer 2025 dates soon.
Even though Orientation takes place before classes begin, there are still many opportunities to start getting connected at VCU. WoW is designed for first-year and transfer students and inclusive of all students.
